Stride

Terms of Use

Effective 1 October 2026

These terms cover your use of the Stride app and service, published by JB Web Developer ("we", "us"). By using Stride you agree to them.

What Stride is

Stride counts the steps your phone records, subtracts the ones recorded while you were travelling in a vehicle, and ranks what is left against the other members of the groups you have joined. It is a leaderboard and a group chat. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice. Step counts and the distance and calorie figures derived from them are estimates from your phone's sensors, not measurements. Talk to a doctor before changing how much you exercise.

Your account

Groups

Counting honestly

Stride exists because a leaderboard nobody believes is worth nothing. Do not try to produce steps you did not walk — by shaking or mounting your phone, by using software to write step data, or by any other means. We may remove implausible days, and we may suspend or close an account used to do this.

What you say in a group

You are responsible for your messages. Do not post anything unlawful, harassing, hateful, or that infringes somebody else's rights, and do not use the chat to bully a colleague. Taunts are a feature, and a group can switch them off; the line between ribbing and harassment is one you are expected to know. We may remove messages and suspend accounts.

Our side

Ending it

You can close your account at any time, in the app or at /delete-account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant. Carrying on using Stride after that means you accept the new terms.
